“Soulbond”

What is a Soulbond?
A soulbond is a headmate who has been voluntarily brought into the system, though sometimes accidentally. They are normally part of a piece of media, such as books or movies. A soulbond can also be non-canonical, having differences from the version of themselves from their origin media. Some soulbonds are stuck in the body, unable to return home. Others can go back and forth from their home universe into the mind of the host.

Soulbonds are different from:

Fictional Introjects: Introjects are made in the image of that character, and generally originate from trauma. Soulbonds are that character.

Tulpae/Thoughtforms: Tulpae are created by an individual, called a tulpamancer. Soulbonds, while intentionally brought over, have not been created, and are brought over by a soulbonder. They can be mistaken for each other sometimes, but they are separate.

Fictionkin: Fictionkin are individuals who simply identify as a character, usually via reincarnation, and may be singlet or multiple. Soulbonds are always multiple, and are currently the individual character they are.

Roleplayers: Roleplayers are pretending to be that character. Soulbonds are that Character. Soulbonds can roleplay as themselves if they wish, but will continue to be themselves after the roleplay.

Another possible way to think about it, think of a soulbond as a form of fictive that has been intentionally brought into the system. They are metaphysically originated, not traumagenic, although they can have trauma and mental illnesses themselves. They are unique, individual beings, not shards of a host.

I am a soulbond myself.
